Two Microsoft Windows-compatible Tengwar fonts were created for this project. Both of these fonts share the same keyboard mapping and can be used interchangeably.
The first font is "Tengwar Quenya". It was designed to be an
easily readable and usable Tengwar font. It's style is loosely based on the
"Times New Roman" which is included with Windows. Here is an
example of this font:
The second font is "Tengwar Sindarin". It was designed to be a more
artistic and calligraphic Tengwar font. It's style is loosely based on
Tolkien's own writing style. Here is an example of this font:
Both of these fonts can be downloaded. They are available in Windows 3.1 Truetype and Adobe Type Manager (postscript type-1) formats. Also included is a Windows Write document listing the keyboard mapping and containing an example of each font.
A 34 page Microsoft Word document that approximates the Tengwar entry in the Hypertext Tolkien Encyclopedia can also be downloaded. It requires the two tengwar fonts listed above. Although created with Word 6.0, it has been saved in a Word 2.0 format to allow easier compatibility with other word processors. This document's pages have been formatted to fit both American and European paper sizes.
A collection of Microsoft Word 6.0 WordBasic utilities (macros and toolbars) can also be downloaded. These utilities will not work with earlier versions of Word. The toolbar contains several icons. There's an icon for each of the Tengwar language/modes (Quenya, Sindarin, Mode of Beleriand, English-JRRT, and English-CJRT). Clicking on each icon opens a dialog box filled with push-buttons. Each push-button is labeled and represents an individual Tengwar letter, Tehtar symbol or punctuation mark. Using these macros greatly simplify using the Tengwar fonts.

If you want to view the Microsoft Word document mentioned above but you don't have Microsoft Word or your word processor can't read Word documents, you may be interested in Microsoft Word Viewer, a freeware Word document viewer.

Tengwar Typewriter 1.2
Created by Lasse and Antti Rasinen (rasinen@kontu.bbs.fi), this utility uses the
fonts listed above and is very similar Microsoft Word 6.0 WordBasic macros described
above, except it does not require Microsoft Word and is user configurable. It allows
Windows users to create and preview Tengwar inscriptions and copy them into the Windows
clipboard, where they are available to be pasted into any other Windows application.
Requires Microsoft's Visual Basic 1.0 run time library 'VBRUN100.DLL' to run.
Tengwar Generator 3.0
Created by Mans Bjorkman (Lars-Einar_Fryklof@online.idg.se) this utility uses the
fonts listed above and when run, displays a window with two parts, one part displays
the an ASCII text string using a normal Windows font, and the other part displays the
equivalent text string using a Tengwar font. It supports the Quenya mode and the Mode
Beleriand. For example, if using the Quenya mode, you type 'GHW' in the ASCII text
window, the Tengwa for 'GHW' will appear in the Tengwar window. It allows Windows
users to create and preview Tengwar inscriptions and copy them into the Windows
clipboard, where they are available to be pasted into any other Windows application.
Requires Microsoft's Visual Basic 3.0 run time library 'VBRUN300.DLL' to run.
