The former editor of ETEP, Jack Lang has volunteered to manage the TOLKIEN list. This mailing list will replace the original concept of the Speculative Discussion Archive. An edited/moderated version of the discussion of the TOLKIEN list will be archived as a feature of ETEP.

New: The Chroniclers of Middle-earth by Mans Bjorkman is a thorough treatment of the many sources and authors whose record of history was shaped by Tolkien into the form we have it today.

The Tolkien Encyclopedia now features articles in Spanish. Sergio Porro has written an article on Deagol. An English translation of this article is also available. In addition, Mr. Porro has translated ETEP submission guidelines into Spanish. [NOTE: submissions in any language are welcome.]

Update: Mans Bjorkman has updated his articles concerning Orcs, Half-orcs, the Uruk-hai, the Istari, and Elvish Philosophy: On Death and Incarnation.

Justin M. Fitzpatrick has composed articles concerning Luthien and the tragic story of Beren and Luthien.

Mans Bjorkman has sent along an article on the "Straight Road." Also he has constructe several new family trees which outline the geneology of the great houses of Middle-earth.

Those of you interested in the languages and writing systems which Tolkien invented ought to look at the new article by Dan Smith on the Tengwar cursive phonetic alphabet. Mr. Smith demonstrates how the alphabet can be used to write in Quenya, Sindarin, and English. He also includes information on where to obtain Tengwar fonts for your personal computer.
